USING HUSH MODE
Using Hush Mode
HUSH mode allows you to temporarily silence your MATelec DET-SMK-DC1 or DET-SMK-DC10 smoke alarm after you have confirmed there is no fire or smoke hazard.
IMPORTANT: Always check for signs of smoke or fire before using HUSH mode. Never assume an alarm is false without checking first.
- 1
Check the Area
If the smoke alarm sounds, first check the surrounding area for signs of smoke or fire.
Only use HUSH mode once you have confirmed it is safe to do so.
- 2
Activate Hush Mode
Press the Test/Hush button to temporarily silence the alarm.
The smoke alarm will stop sounding but will continue to monitor for smoke.
- 3
Check the LED
While HUSH mode is active, the red LED will flash every 8 seconds.
- 4
Allow The Alarm to Return to Normal Operation
The HUSH period differs between the two models:
- DET-SMK-DC1: Approximately 8 minutes.
- DET-SMK-DC10: Approximately 10 minutes.
Once the HUSH period has ended, the smoke alarm will automatically return to normal operation.
If smoke or another triggering source is still present, the alarm will sound again.
Remember: HUSH mode should only be used once you have confirmed there is no fire or smoke hazard.
